Why we shouldn't let gender stop us from achieving our goals in 2019

People. Regardless of gender. That’s how we should see the world. However, gender equality isn’t isolated to the history books, it’s current and strongly continues to demean ambition.

Ladies – be self-aware of who you are, your strengths and passions. Don’t let anything stop you from achieving what you want.

YOU ARE MOST LIKELY HAVING THE SAME STRUGGLES AS MANY OTHER WOMEN.

The energy you put out will come back to you, so support and give the energy you wish to feel.

CAREER

If I listened to all the career advice I have been given, I probably wouldn’t only be miserable I would also not have gained the whole realm of life experience I have through my career. I have been through huge highs, working on huge marketing campaigns, with big glamourous brands, travelling the world for work.

I have also been subject to workplace bullying and pay / hierarchy injustices. Ones that have allowed me to stand up for myself and witness people truly at their worst. You know, although those times have challenged me beyond what’s expressible in a blog, I have not let those setbacks hold me back from moving towards my goals.

You can be the only woman at the table. You can even be the youngest women at a table, however ultimately it may not be the table you want to be sitting on! But know you can get there with hard work and persistence.

Work hard towards what you want. Educate yourself and don’t see things as impossible, because your attitude will help you achieve your goals, but you first have to want it.

Stay connected to your bigger goals and don’t let the events that occur around you throw you off course.

In my personal experience, people of all genders can be your biggest career advocates and also can hold you back! See people for who they are beyond their gender.

LIFE

Stay inspired, challenge yourself and most importantly ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT*.

And don’t accept bullshit and don’t be scared to approach inequality topics.

It’s your life, you are the boss.

The best advice I got from my amazing mum growing up was ‘Don’t ever lower your standards’.

Be honest with yourself, and stay true to what you want and it will flow into all your relationships and everything you do.

And remember, perseverance always wins.
