Celebrating IWD2020 is something that holds a huge importance to me as a young woman.
Last night I was inspired by so much Hellenic energy at the Grounds of Arcadia Hacci event celebrating IWD2020.
I’ll be honest, there have been witness to so many inequalities and it has taken time for me to find my voice to stand up for myself and others in these situations. Inequality has so many layers and is so embed into society all throughout history. It isn’t something new. If anything in 2020 things are better than they have ever been. But is it good enough?
What does Equal for Equal mean to me:
Speaking up when you see that there is clearly a bias
Trying to educate those who have power
Doing what you can to try creating opportunities for
Treating others how you want to be treated – fair
It means MEN joining conversations about equality for women
MEN JOINING THE CONVO
When it comes to a day focused on women’s equality, it’s easy for men to turn away. That’s why having my dad with me at the IWD2020 event was so important to me. We need to make sure we educate our friends, family first on the stories and issues women face. If we want a more equal future, we all need to take part of the conversations. Don’t take no for an answer.
