How Millennial's Can Get Ahead In Their Careers

Being ambitious from a young age, I have had to fight battles in the workplace I don't think necessarily should exist, especially in 2018.

Learning how to deal with difficulties is vital to our broader life growth and our ability to thrive.

People love to share their view on millennial's and the generations issues in the workplace. But here are some tips to get ahead;

1. Be humble and use your natural knack for finding answers (even if it is via google) to your advantage. We are born into a digital world. We are connected and can use this natural extension to our advantage.

2. Ask for what you want. If you don’t ask – you will never get.

3. Don’t wait for someone to hand it to you, go for it and work hard for it.

4. GO ABOVE AND BEYOND. How bad do you want this? What have you done to show that… I built a website for a job I wanted once. I didn’t get that job – and I’m grateful for that. But you know what – you can’t question that drive.

5. Follow up- It really gets me when people complain about not hearing back from a job they applied for. If you haven’t heard from someone – CALL THEM, email them, find a way to get in touch. Show how much you want something- prove it.

6. Be real and use your social brand to promote who you are and what you want.

7. Fearless leaders and doers are needed. Walk the walk – don’t just talk the talk.

8. Be prepared to combat ageism – this usually comes from insecurity. Be respectful and understand this isn’t your downfall. Let others be surprised by your age and focus on collaboration beyond job title, age, appearance etc. We can all bring value, focus on that.

You don’t need permission to follow your dreams.
